BLACK SATIN COLLECTIBLESpresentsSLAVE DOCUMENTExecuted in the State of Mississippi1835FOR THE HEIRS OF WILLIAM INGREM (OR INGRAM)This legal document (much like a will), executed in the State of Mississippi, in 1835, bequeaths to Mary, Jasper and Robert Ingrem, from William Ingrem "2 negroes, Rachael and Sam; one negro man named Caprel; and 3 negroes, Nancy, Abel and Jenny......" respectively. Enslaved Africans were, many times, loaned to others to use for breeding and labor or other purposes....this looks like a case where the enslaved Africans were loaned to others and the amounts owing for their rentals which were also due to the heirs....much like one would rent a lawn mower from the local garden store or a rug shampooer from the local grocery chain....isn't it.....Nevertheless, this document also may be an important link to someone's past.
Here is further evidence of man's inhumanity to man. Nothing could ever justify, the cruel enslavement of human beings in America. Among the greatest holocausts is that of American Slavery--that which was the maiming, raping, beating, murdering and forced labor of African men, women and children; the separation of children from mothers, of husbands from wives--the determined and planned anihilation of family, tradition and culture from those African people who were kidnapped from their homeland....here is the proof of the cruel and inhumane treatement of human beings perpetrated by a people who used human beings in the worst and most disgraceful ways for financial gain and personal pleasure and then sought to justify this holocaust with attempts to dehuminize those innocent human beings by relegating their existence to "property" and "inventory". America's riches is due largely to the forced, free labor of these African human beings. The Cotton, Tobacco, Sugar Industries, etc.,were built on the backs of America's enslaved Africans.
