WASHINGTON, DC BLACK MEMORABILIA, ART & DOLL SHOW & SALE,
DECEMBER 8, 2007
The Greater Washington, DC Black Memorabilia, Art & Doll
Show & Sale will be Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Washington, DC
Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC. Show hours
are 10 am to 7 pm. Admission is $6, and children 12 and under are
admitted free. There will be many exhibitors from across the United
States with black memorabilia and collectibles for sale including
historical artifacts and documents, books, stamps, paintings, prints,
textiles, autographs, toys, dolls, advertisements, photos, art, political
memorabilia, kitchen collectibles, sports and entertainment memorabilia,
postcards, cookie jars and much more. There will be doll artists with
black dolls and doll related materials, and black artists with original
paintings and prints for sale. There will be exhibits of slavery
artifacts, Jim Crow memorabilia, the Black Panther Party, and other
educational exhibits. Also, there will be autograph sessions with former
players of Negro League baseball teams and Tuskegee Airmen. The intent of
this show to provide an environment where the public can be educated on
the African American experience without the constraints of a formal
museum, and where they can purchase desirable pieces of authentic and
rare black memorabilia and collectibles including black art and dolls.
This is the largest black memorabilia and collectible show in the
country, and it attracts major exhibitors and collectors alike. This is
an educational experience for the whole family and a showcase of the

one of the most famous star of the Folies Bergere, Mademoiselle Josephine
Baker,

black and white photo's of JOSEPHINE and all the current artistes of the
Art Deco period in this programme
These Programme are in
excellent condition. Usual signs of wear to the volume's hardcover at the
corners and along the edges of the spine, but these minor flaws in no way
detract from this rare and trully wonderful volume of Folies Bergere
Programmes.

BLACK DOLL SHOW
& SALE DECEMBER 16 & 17, 2006
The 15th Annual Dolls
of Color On Parade “Black Doll Show & Sale” will be Saturday and
Sunday, December 16 & 17, 2006 at the Montgomery County
Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut
Street, in Gaithersburg,
Maryland. There will be many
black doll artists, black doll makers and vendors with black dolls,
doll accessories, doll furniture and doll related materials for sale. Show
hours are 10am to 5pm, Saturday, and 10am to 4pm, Sunday. Admission is $5,
and children 12 and under are admitted free. This is a unique opportunity
for the public to meet and talk with doll artists and doll makers about
their craft, and to purchase dolls for their collection and for holiday
gifts. To reach the fairgrounds from
Washington, DC take I-495 to I-270 exit. Take I-270 to exit 11 and at first
light Frederick Ave. turn right go one block to Perry Pkwy turn right and

The historic Gaylord
Building in Lockport,
Illinois, is planning a new
education program called the Collectors Brown Bag Lunch.
It will be a monthly series consisting of a hour presentation by
collectible experts from the Chicago
metropolitan area. The programs will be held one Monday each month at
noon, beginning in November 2006. In honor of Black History Month in
February 2007, we would like to include a respectful presentation about
collecting African-American memorabilia. I would greatly appreciate
you assistance contacting a member of your organization who is a qualified
and willing presenter.
