A book like this is hard to come by and is a treasure! 28 pages. Great childrens book by black author Arna Bontemps and illustrated beautifully by Feliks Topolski. Illustrations look like they were done in black and white with pen and ink line drawings, accented by nice black watercolor work.
Published in 1955 by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston. The Riverside Press, Cambridge.
This is a library discard with usual markings. Card holder was removed. One small stain on edge of pages at bottom but is hardly noticable on page fronts. I see one smallish dogear. No scribbles or tears. Looks like the library had cut from the dust jacket the comments about the author with a photo of him and pasted it on two of the back end papers. Hardback cover is nice but shows wear.
